VITALDOCTOR is developing a platform for the continuous and wireless acquisition, analysis and transmission of multiple vital parameters in clinical environments and emergency medical services. During his visit, Czisch gained insights into the company's technology and discussed with the team the next steps from development towards clinical deployment and industrialization.

“I am always pleased to see young people with the ambition and courage to develop new technologies and build companies,” said Gunter Czisch, former Lord Mayor and honorary citizen of Ulm. “Innovative businesses and committed entrepreneurs are essential if we want to maintain and strengthen our economic capabilities and technological expertise in Ulm, Baden-Württemberg and Germany. It is particularly encouraging to see such developments emerging here in our region.”

Czisch helped shape the development of Ulm for more than two decades in senior municipal positions. He served as Lord Mayor from 2016 to 2024, following 16 years as First Mayor, where his responsibilities included finance, organizational development, administrative modernization and information and communications technology. During his tenure as Lord Mayor, Ulm continued to expand its digital transformation, digital infrastructure and Smart City initiatives.

In 2024, the City of Ulm awarded Czisch honorary citizenship in recognition of his long-standing service. The citation specifically highlighted his commitment to digital transformation as well as his contribution to strengthening Ulm as a center of science and business.

“For us, dialogue with people who have helped shape Ulm as a technology and business location over many years is particularly valuable,” says Jonathan Botchoua, Founder and CEO of VITALDOCTOR. “The business hub combines scientific excellence, engineering expertise, industry and entrepreneurship in a way that is quite unique. Our ambition is to build an internationally relevant MedTech company from this environment while maintaining a strong technological base in the region.”

VITALDOCTOR aims to make continuous patient monitoring available in healthcare environments where monitoring is still largely based on intermittent measurements. The company combines wearable sensing with software, automated data analysis and a centralized monitoring infrastructure.

The meeting with Gunter Czisch also reflects VITALDOCTOR's strong regional roots. The company is building its technology and organization from Ulm while working with partners across medicine, science and industry.
